Racers gathered on another hot and humid day in anticipation of the running of the SDOC 2015. The track was prepped and looked fast….extremely fast as the clouds were slowly rolling in. In the back of everyone’s mind was the big question…..was Mother Nature going to be nice?

Qualifying was rolling along nicely and the mains began. Wait!!! What is this?
About a 3 minute hard rain brought out our “Air Titan” Leaf Blower to try and dry the track. To no avail Mother Nature begin laughing at us and the “monsoon” arrived.

For the first time in track history we had to award trophies to some classes on qualifying. I hated to do it but in my mind it was the only fair thing to do. There is no way I could make sure everyone could be back in 2 weeks.

A big thank you to everyone that came out and we hope you all had a good time. To Matt Gorman who has supported the track, club and this race by supplying the trophies for many years and actually saw no return from it we thank you. To Kimbrough, McAllister, Hobby Haven and Kicker for supplying door prizes we thank you.

Racing continues in 2 weeks and we hope to see you all at the track then.

Well we finally got the season started. Thank you to all the racers that came out and raced with us today. We had a total of 61 entries today. Mother Nature turned the tables on us today and unleashed the heat, but the green track held up great and provided some great action. We had some new faces on the podium today and that’s always great to see. It seems the new qualifying system worked very well and we hope you all liked it.

We will have practice on Thursday, June 11th, from 5 PM until 8 PM. Racing continues next Sunday, June 14th, with the Spring Dirt Oval Classic sponsored by Matt Gorman and Farm Bureau.

Once again we thank you all for your support and we hope to see you at the track.

It was another fun day of racing at Checkered Flag Raceway. Donna and I would like to thank everyone that made it out when it looked like Mother Nature was going to stop us. It’s hard to believe that with a hour rain delay we still ended up watering the track. We now take the holiday weekend off and hope you all enjoy it. Our next race is Sept. 9th and we hope to see you there. Check todays racing results here and updated drivers points here.

With a break in the heat by only a few degrees the action on the track was still hot. With several racers taking a break and resting up for the KDOC the remaining 86 cars were trying to make their mark on the points battle as we finally returned to a mid summer club race. We saw several familiar faces in victory lane this week, however we have a few new faces stand out above the rest in their respective classes. Congratulations to all the winners this week. Look forward to everyone showing up at the Kansas Dirt Oval Championship next week and showing those out of towners how we dirt slingers love to play in the dirt. Racing results can be found here. Updated drivers points can be found here.
