What a great day at the track. The kids were Trick or Treating the pits and the racing on the track was a fun filled event. We had 68 entries today all vying for the coveted Tombstone trophies. The racing was great and most important at the end of the day everyone was smiling and talking about the surprises that were added to the Havoc 100. The Trailer race was a added bonus this year and it was entertaining for sure. We would like to thank Gary Offutt for doing some guest announcing. Gary will definitely bring a smile to everyone with his style of announcing. All in all it was just a great day. Donna and I would like to congratulate all the winners and our sponsors for the great door prizes. This will now close out our 2015 season. Thank you all for the continued support and we hope to see you all next season. The rules will be updated soon and the 2016 schedule will be made hopefully by the end of the year.

What a day. We would like to thank everyone that came and helped us pay tribute to our veterans today. Just like our service men and women do, we showed just how much of a team the Kansas Dirt Slingers are.

After a long day of work on Saturday to get the track back in shape after the storms on Thursday, we found the track coming apart during the first round. With a lot of help our team rebuilt the track to make for better day of racing and it worked. The track was great for the rest of the day.

With VFW presenting the colors to start the day and Old Glory Flying High there was nothing that was going to stop this great day. We had friends from the South and North join us today and we hope they had a great time and will come back and join us again.

To all the Armed Forces past and present and First Responders we thank you and your families for the sacrifices you have made to keep us safe. To Randy Reed and Reed Buick GMC thank you for the awesome trophies. To our sponsors that supplied door prizes, thank you.

We did a great thing today and we hope you all realize that. With additional donations from Betty McDowell(my mom), Carrick Electric and Phil Beardshear from AFX Fab we raised $1345.00. Then Patrick Moline won the 50/50 drawing and donated that to the VFW bringing our total to $1390.00. That is great folks. Like I said at the end of the day “Be PROUD to be a AMERICAN”. We live in the greatest country on earth and God Bless the USA.

It was another Fun day at CFR today. We had 63 cars and saw some great racing. Congratulations to all the race winners and all the door prize winners. The track was great for the heat races and then was in a transition phase for the mains and just stayed there making it a rough time for some in the mains. But like we always say, it’s the same for everyone. Some hit the setup better than others. We were finally able to get a Figure 8 race in and it was a hoot.

Happy Birthday Mark Dempsey

Happy Birthday Mark Dempsey

We would also like to wish Mark Dempsey a Happy 55th Birthday. He said there was no better place to spend it than at the track racing. I have to agree with him. Yes the AARP jokes already started.

We will now take the Holiday weekend off and get back to racing on Sept. 13th with our Racing For Heroes Benefit trophy race. A big thank you to Reed Buick GMC for sponsoring the race. Until then, enjoy the holiday and we’ll see you at the track.

As the sun began to set it was the sign that the 2015 Kansas Dirt Oval Championship was about to come to an end. With the day starting early Mother Nature tried to pull her usual tricks with a rain shower but the CFR track crew was a step ahead of her with the track tarped and ready for her sneak attack. After a short delay the track crew went to work prepping the track for a FUN day of racing.

With 51 racers totaling 115 entries there were some veterans of the track and some first timers trying to find out for themselves what CFR is all about. The action on the track was just as hot as the temperature which the KDOC is traditionally known for. There were a lot of smiles and laughter through out the day. Basically just great racing, friendships rekindled and new friendships made. Thats the main goal of CFR and the Kansas Dirt Slingers club, FUN and FRIENDSHIP.

We would like to thank Robart MFG/Zap for being the primary sponsor of this years KDOC and for suppling the goodie bags with there products for all the racers. We also want to thank Kicker, Custom Works, Associated, AKA, Hobbico, Panther Racing and McAllister for suppling the door prizes that were given away.

We would like to thank everyone that took the time out of their busy summer schedules to attend this years race. We know there are plenty of race tracks to attend throughout the summer and you chose to battle the heat on and off the track at what we think is the greatest show in Kansas. Congratulations to all winners. Thank you to all the Kansas Dirt Slinger members. You all pitched in wherever needed to help make the race a huge success.

Lastly we would like to congratulate John Dempsey on his induction into the clubs Hall of Fame. John has been here since the beginning of the track when he, Donna and myself moved the first dirt and continues to tell me he’s not going anywhere. Once again thank you all and we hope to see you at the track soon.

A big thank you to Gary Frantz, John Dempsey and Josh McKinney for the help rebuilding the track Saturday. Mother Nature showed her wrath earlier in the week and the track had to under go a complete rebuild. Thanks to everyone that helped out today during the race program. Thanks to our sponsors for the door prize’s.

Racing will resume on July 26th with our next club race. Enjoy the week off and we hope to see you in 2 weeks.

It was another Fun day of racing at CF today with 48 cars making their way to the best dirt oval track in the midwest. Mother Nature blessed us with awesome weather. It was a day filled with so good racing and some not so good. But at the end of the day everyone seemed to have a good time. Thanks to all that made it out today. Congratulations to all the winners. We will take a week off and hope everyone enjoys the 4th of July.

Action will resume with practice on July 9th and racing on July 12th. Until then we hope you all had a good time and we’ll see you next time.

Racers gathered on another hot and humid day in anticipation of the running of the SDOC 2015. The track was prepped and looked fast….extremely fast as the clouds were slowly rolling in. In the back of everyone’s mind was the big question…..was Mother Nature going to be nice?

Qualifying was rolling along nicely and the mains began. Wait!!! What is this?
About a 3 minute hard rain brought out our “Air Titan” Leaf Blower to try and dry the track. To no avail Mother Nature begin laughing at us and the “monsoon” arrived.

For the first time in track history we had to award trophies to some classes on qualifying. I hated to do it but in my mind it was the only fair thing to do. There is no way I could make sure everyone could be back in 2 weeks.

A big thank you to everyone that came out and we hope you all had a good time. To Matt Gorman who has supported the track, club and this race by supplying the trophies for many years and actually saw no return from it we thank you. To Kimbrough, McAllister, Hobby Haven and Kicker for supplying door prizes we thank you.

Racing continues in 2 weeks and we hope to see you all at the track then.

We would like to thank everyone that made it out today. It was great seeing everyone and great to see everyone knocking the rust off. Looking forward to getting the race season started in 2 weeks. We want to thank those that stayed after we quit and helped on the track. The new dirt came in nicely. We were able to rework the track, pick rocks and finished getting the infield pipe and whisker markers down. We were then treated to a B-2 Bomber flyover as we were wrapping up.

Once again thank you all and we hope to see you at the track as we begin our racing season on May 17, 2015.
