The 2013 KDOC is in the books and all I can say is what a weekend. Donna and I would like to thank everyone that participated or just stopped by to watch this years event. With our support of local racers and a large contingent of DODC traveling racers we set a new track record of 175 entries. We would like to congratulate all the winners and hope that everyone had a FUN time.

A big thank you goes out to all that helped make this race a huge success. Josh for all the hours you spend helping, Pat and Clint for the announcing, Chris for taking care of tech and Elmo, Scott, Trevor and CA for taking care of the track. Jason for videoing throughout the weekend, Chris K. for covering the event for RC Driver, Nicole Lutz for all the different shirts and Fred for all the help every morning and night doing whatever we needed done. To Donna and Patty in the cafe, thank you for keeping us all fed. You both worked your butts off the days preceding and during the race. I’m sure there are folks that I left off and I apologize for it, but if you helped in anyway thank you.

I want to congratulate Patrick Moline on his induction into the Kansas Dirt Slingers Hall Of Fame. You are a vital member of the club and a great friend to all of us.

To all of our sponsors we thank you for everything. With your great support we were able to keep all the racers hydrated and provide every racer with a door prize. Here is a list of all of them: Freedom Electric, Culligan of Greater Kansas City, Country Inn and Suites, Boca Bearings, Kicker Audio, Mc Allister, Croft Rental, Custom Works, Horizon Hobbies, Team Associated, Matt Gorman Farm Bureau, Kipps Hobbies, McDowell Vintage Racing, Full Force RC, Castle Creations, AKA, Stalker, RC Driver, Chunky’s RC Bodies, Hobbytown USA, Dirt Oval.com, Heartland RC, Richards Motorsports, Mills Trophies, Sippel Speed Shop, MIP, Great Plains, Testor, B-Fast RC, Kimbrough, Hoy Excavating, GPG, Valliere Laser Werx and Go Blue Racing.com. Remember to support these great companies whenever you can. I ask you to please drop them an email and thank them for your prize and supporting Checkered Flag Raceway.

To all the club members I thank you for all your support and continuing efforts to bring new racers into our hobby. I think we showed all of our guest just how strong the Kansas Dirt Slingers RC Club is. To all the traveling racers we hope you all had a great time. It was nice to see some old friends and have the chance to make some new ones. We hope you will come back and race with us again. Let’s hope we have the cool temperatures again next year.

In closing I would once again like to thank you all for helping turn my passion for the hobby I love into reality every time we all get together. We all want to be competitive but the main goal is we all have FUN doing it.

PS: Tried my best to stay busy. Just like last year we had our big race of the year this weekend. He was on my mind all day and when they had rain forecast for us, all I could do was think it’s not going to happen because he was looking out for me and kept it away. It finally got the best of me around noon and I just had to go be by myself for a short time. Love you and miss you Daddy(Oct. 20, 1931 – July 28, 2012).

With 106 cars and Mother Nature throwing the sun at us it made for hot and fast racing all day. We would like to thank everyone that made it out to enjoy the fun day of racing. A big thank you to all of you that helped out in any way. We would like to apologize for the length of the race day with all the watering, but we do think it made for a great race track all day. We are working on a new watering system and hope to have it ready to test this Sunday. We also want to thank all of you for supporting the Cafe. Donna wanted to remind you all that she is always open for meal suggestions.
